New Orleans– The New Orleans Saints All Pro record breaking wide out Mike Thomas spoke out against the NFL’s latest proposal. This was tweeted out by Tom Pelissero that “The NFLPA informed its board of representatives today that the NFL proposed 35% of player salaries be held in escrow to help manage costs during the 2020 season, per sources. It’s one option on the table if revenue is impacted league wide by COVID-19.”

Can’t Guard Mike responded by firing off several tweets:

The NFL is throwing out the idea that everyone must share in the what could be the loss of revenue due to Covid-19. Thomas the 2019 NFL Offensive Player of the Year, signed a massive five-year deal with New Orleans last season. He is scheduled to receive at least $1,000,000 as his base salary for 2020, approximately $350,000 of it will be held by the NFL in escrow (under the example).
The idea isn’t exactly catching on as the NFL moves into the upcoming season. Along with Thomas, Kansas City Chiefs Star QB Patrick Mahomes who recently signed the largest deal in NFL History also isn’t a fan of the idea either.Β  The NFL is weighing all options as to the safety and league viability in these uncertain times. Please expect to see more of these types of proposals from the NFL whose weighing football during a pandemic.
