The New Orleans Saints are facing many difficult obstacles on the road to a Superbowl this season. The Drew Brees “Anthem” comment fired up a storm in which leaders of the team had to intervene to get it under control. There was also the draft, free agency in which the team used shrewd moves to fixed weaknesses on the team.
The arrival of veterans like WR Emmanuel Sanders and DB Malcolm Jenkins will serve to help the team experience wise. The resigning of guys like QB Drew Brees, DT David Onyemata, OL Andrus Peat & others add continuity to an over stacked roster. The Saints added 3 new drafted players at key spots, 13 undrafted players and several underrated new free agents as well.
The newly drafted players are 1st rounder C Caesar Ruiz of Michigan, 3rd rounders LB Zach Baun of Nebraska, TE Adam Trautman of Dayton and 7th rounder QB Tommy Stevens of Miss st. The 13 undrafted players are: LB Joe Bachie, DL Gus Cumberlander, WR Marquez Callaway, DB Tino Ellis, (P) Blake Gillikin, WR Juwan Johnson, RB Tony Jones Jr., OL Adrian Magee, OT Darrin Paulo, DL Malcolm Roach, OL Jordan Steckler, OL Calvin Throckmorton and DB Keith Washington Jr.
The new free agents to the team are: QB Jameis Winston (formerly TB), RB Ty Montgomery (formerly of NY Jets), OL James Hurst (formerly Bal) & LB Anthony Chickillo (formerly PIt).
