Adam Schefter reacts to Chris Boswell game-winner, addresses Steelers giving him raise after contract dispute

Chris Boswell was the hero of the afternoon for the Steelers in Week 1. He drilled a game-winning 60-yard field-goal to lift Pittsburgh to a win over the New York Jets.

Now, he might’ve earned himself a raise. After trying to negotiate an extension before the season and being denied, ESPN’s Adam Schefter revealed during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show that the franchise could be more inclined to put pen to paper in the near future following Boswell’s awesome Week 1.

“He hadn’t gotten one going into the opener. I know he wanted one. And I don’t think he was particularly pleased about it,” Schefter told Pat McAfee . “But the fact of the matter is that guy is an incredible kicker. That 60-yarder would have been good from, feels like 70 yards. And he’s been so accurate and you see that guy’s disposition, he’s unbelievable the way he carries himself.

“Great kicker. Tried to get a raise, hasn’t gotten a raise. We’ll see if the Steelers budge at all there.”

Alas, every franchise in the NFL would love to have a kicker as reliable as Boswell. One thing is certain, the Steelers don’t win Sunday without him, and that’s something the team won’t take lightly.

Pittsburgh hasn’t been shy about paying their own this year, and Boswell fits the bill. It feels like a matter of when, not if, for the Pittsburgh star kicker. Schefter reported as much on Monday.
