Adding Insult to Injury: Crawford’s Trainer BoMac Unleashes Verbal Assault on Spence Jr.

In the aftermath of Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford‘s impressive ninth-round stoppage victory over Errol Spence Jr., his trainer Brian ‘BoMac’ McIntyre didn’t hold back in expressing his thoughts about their opponent. Speaking on the FightHype podcast, BoMac criticized Spence, the former IBF, WBA & WBC welterweight champion, calling him “slow” and “basic,” and suggesting that he made critical mistakes that played into Crawford’s hands during the bout.

According to BoMac, Spence’s claim of being fundamentally sound fell apart, as he appeared sluggish after the first round, allowing Crawford to capitalize with three knockdowns.

BoMac elaborated on Crawford’s counter-punching abilities, highlighting a left-hand counter followed by a jab (a 2-1 combination) that resulted in a crucial knockdown. He even asserted that had the round not ended, Crawford could have possibly finished Spence in the second round.

While some may question the validity of such claims, BoMac seemed determined to magnify Crawford’s triumph and attributed part of their success to letting Crawford grow into the weight class while Spence made excuses and hesitated. The win undoubtedly adds to Crawford’s stature in the welterweight division, and BoMac’s candid remarks further ignite the debate among boxing enthusiasts about the two fighters’ abilities and the potential rematch.
