The Carolina Panthers are signing quarterback Bryce Perkins to the roster. This move is in response to Andy Dalton going down with an elbow injury during the preseason game against the Houston Texans.
Perkins played for the Michigan Panthers of the United Football League (UFL) for the last two seasons. This past year, the former Virginiastar threw for 1,342 yards with nine touchdowns and two interceptions in seven games with six starts. Bryce Perkins led Michigan to the UFL Championship game and was named league MVP.
Perkins has previous experience in the NFL. The 28-year-old joined the Los Angeles Rams in 2020 as an undrafted free agent and was with the team when they won the Super Bowl during the 2021 season. Perkins made his NFL debut in 2022 and played in five games with one start. In those games, Perkins completed 55.9 percent of his passes for 161 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions.
