On July 17, Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice was sentenced to five years of probation and 30 days of jail time for his role in a multi-car crash in Dallas during the 2024 offseason. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Rice will likely serve a multi-game suspension.
A Dallas county judge sentenced Rice, who can serve his jail sentence during the five-year probation. The crash happened on March 30, 2024, when Rice, who was driving a Lamborghini, was racing Theodore Knox, who was driving a Corvette. Rice reportedly told police he lost control of his vehicle, which caused a crash involving six cars.
Although he has been dealing with these legal issues, he is still taking part in the Kansas City Chiefs training camp just a month away from the beginning of the 2025 regular season. During a media opportunity on Friday, head coach Andy Reid hilariously made a speeding pun when referring to Rice, whether it was intended or not.

“He’s done a nice job off the field and nice job on the field,” Reid said. “Sometimes you learn from your mistakes so that’s the important part. You’ve got all of that, and then on the field he’s just been full speed ahead . No pun intended.”
