The Arizona Fall League is nearing its end. On Sunday, the league hosted its annual Fall Stars Game. Only one Toronto Blue Jays’ prospect participated in the event, left-handed reliever Kai Peterson. Drafted in the 20th round of the 2023 draft, Peterson pitched in relief during the sixth inning, entering with a 4-1 lead. The first batter he faced, Esmerlyn Valdez, popped up on the second pitch. The 23-year-old walked the next two batters, but got the 2024 third overall pick, Charlie Condon, to ground out into a double play. Peterson threw 14 pitches, six of which were for strikes. Only two of those pitches were sliders, generating no swings. The rest of his pitches were sinkers, with the pitch averaging a tick over 91 mph. It generated five total swings, but Peterson failed to get a batter to whiff.
