The Toronto Blue Jays gave new meaning to the phrase “snatching a win out of the jaws of defeat” on Saturday night. Toronto’s 7-6 win in 12 innings over the Miami Marlins was so bizarre that it made MLB history. No matter the difference in records, any team can beat any team on any given day throughout a long baseball season. No team is perfect. But when the American League East-leading Blue Jays took the field to face Miami in the second game of their three-game weekend series, no one could’ve predicted how the game would actually unfold. The Blue Jays became the first team in MLB’s modern era to blow a lead in the 9th, 10th and 11th innings, yet still win the game. After scoring one in the third, two in the sixth and then another in the seventh, Toronto was on track to cruise to another victory. However, the Marlins would refuse to go down without a fight.
