Booger McFarland believes Dak Prescott has separated himself in the MVP conversation through the first month or so of the 2025 NFL season. The Dallas Cowboys quarterback got his team back in the win column Sunday against the New York Jets, throwing for 237 yards and four touchdowns with no interceptions.
The four touchdowns were the most that Prescott has thrown in any game so far this season, and got the attention of McFarland. The ESPN analyst took to X to share his opinion that Prescott is playing at an MVP level right now.
“It’s early but Dak is the mvp right now and it’s not really close,” he wrote.

Entering Sunday’s game, Prescott ranked second in the NFL with 1,119 passing yards. His numbers for the season after the win against the Jets are 1,356 yards passing and 10 touchdowns with three interceptions.
McFarland wasn’t the only one who came away impressed with Prescott after Sunday’s win. Dallas coach Brian Schottenheimer also had quite the compliment for his QB postgame.
“I think we’re spoiled. I think he’s one of the best players in the league,” Schottenheimer said, per Jon Machota of The Athletic. “He’s playing with a ton of confidence.”
Prescott has never won an MVP award in his 10 NFL seasons so far, though he has come close a couple of times. That included finishing second in the MVP voting during the 2023 season after he threw for 4,516 yards and les the NFL with 36 passing touchdowns to nine interceptions.
