New Orleans Pelicans star Brandon Ingram has been on the trade block, but the team is facing difficulty moving him. This is primarily because Ingram is steadfast in refusing to accept a lesser deal, which could potentially ease the trade process. According to NBA insider Marc Stein, “Ingram has only one season left on his current contract and is said to be seeking a four-year contract extension worth nearly $210 million.”
The Pelicans are unwilling to meet those demands, and while various teams have explored trades for the 26-year-old, none have been willing to sign him at those numbers. League sources indicate that Ingram’s camp has also joined the efforts to find a team willing to meet his contract demands.
The overwhelming sentiment around the league is that Ingram is not seen as a max player, which is stalling potential trades. Despite this, with Ingram’s team actively helping to facilitate a trade, more options might emerge. Ingram, who earned an All-Star nod in 2020, averaged 20.8 points per game during his 2023-24 campaign. As the situation develops, the hope is that Ingram’s involvement will lead to a suitable resolution for both him and the Pelicans. Stay tuned for more updates as this story unfolds.
