Pittsburgh isn’t planning to fire coach Mike Tomlin following the 2025 season, but that doesn’t mean his future is secure with the franchise. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported some key details on the long-time relationship on Saturday afternoon.
According to Schefter, the Steelers have “a significant decision” to make early next year. Tomlin has a option in his contract that will be thoroughly discussed.
Mike Tomlin’s contract currently has two years remaining on it. That would be for 2026 and a team option for 2027. The Steelers must decide whether they’re exercising that option on Tomlin’s contract by March 1.
“There will be organizational meetings and decisions that occur,” Schefter wrote, “but not until after this season is complete, with a full body of work for all appropriate parties to review, sources said.”
