Brian Schottenheimer stresses limiting Micah Parsons ahead of second half vs. Packers

Micah Parsons was pretty quiet in the first half of his return to Dallas tonight. Those with the Cowboys, though, know as well as any team that he could wreak havoc at any time now that they’ve come out of halftime.

Brian Schottenheimer was asked coming out of half on Sunday Night Football about limiting Parsons to that point. However, Schottenheimer turned his attention to second half with there still being more time for them to try and keep Parsons out of the game.

“Well, there’s still 30 minutes left. We’re doing our best. He’s a great player,” said Schottenheimer. “And, yeah. We’ve got 30 more minutes of football. Going to come down to the fourth quarter.”

Considering all things, Parsons didn’t do much in the first half against the Cowboys. He posted a pair of tackles and had one quarterback hit on QB Dak Prescott, but didn’t have a sack, tackle for loss, or other statistic of note. He has been active in the pass rush, but not much statistically so far for one of the best defenders in the NFL.

Parsons also hasn’t done a ton in the box score through three games, although not taking part in training camp amidst his standoff with Dallas, with the Green Bay Packers. He has five tackles and 1.5 sacks so far this season as the massive preseason addition to their defense.
