Bryce Young injury update: Panthers QB receives likely timetable for return

by: Nick Kosko 1 hour ago nickkosko59

Carolina Panthers QB Bryce Young is expected to miss the upcoming game against the Buffalo Bills this weekend, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. Young is dealing with a high ankle sprain suffered in the win over the New York Jets Sunday.

Young might miss more than just next week’s game against Buffalo, per Pelissero. Andy Dalton is in line to start against the Bills, at minimum.

Young appeared to suffer the injury when Jets defensive tackle  Jowon Briggs  stepped on his ankle while sacking him on third down with just under four minutes remaining in the third quarter. He then limped off the field and did not return to the game. The Panthers didn’t score again after Young left the game, but they still squeaked out a 13-6 victory.

Before leaving the game, Bryce Young completed 15-of-his-25 pass attempts for 138 yards and a touchdown, without throwing an interception. With the win, the Panthers improved to 4-3 on the season.

For reference, the Panthers finished with a 4-12 record last season, Young’s second year in the NFL. Young has completed 61.8% of his pass attempts for 1,150 yards and 10 touchdowns this season, compared to five interceptions. On Wednesday, he discussed the team’s growth since he was drafted in 2023.
