Veteran NFL running back Cam Akers is set to join the Seattle Seahawks, a team that is looking to make a Super Bowl run. According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Seahawks are signing Akers to the active roster.

Cam Akers spent the early part of the 2025 season with the Minnesota Vikings and recorded 19 rushing yards on five carries in three games. The Vikings signed Akers to their practice squad in September, and the team released him earlier this week. During the offseason, Akers joined the New Orleans Saints but was released by the team at the end of August.

Akers began his NFL career in 2020 when the Los Angeles Rams selected him in the second round of the draft. He was with the Rams for nearly four seasons and rushed for 1,443 yards and 10 touchdowns in 30 games. Akers was a member of the Rams team that won the Super Bowl during the 2021 season.

Early in the 2023 season, the Rams traded Akers to the Vikings. He played in six games with the Vikings before suffering a season-ending Achilles injury. In 2024, the Houston Texans signed Akers, and he played in five games before the team traded him to the Vikings. In Akers’ career, he has rushed for 2,044 yards and 13 touchdowns in 56 games.
