In the high-stakes world of professional boxing, Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, the reigning super middleweight champion, has officially ruled out a bout with Terence “Bud” Crawford. The buzz around a potential face-off between these two titans of the ring has been growing, with Crawford, a pound-for-pound stalwart, having not fought since his victory over Errol Spence last July to claim the undisputed title at welterweight.
While speculation of a rematch with Spence persists, the idea of Crawford climbing three weight classes for a historic clash with Alvarez has tantalized fans. However, Alvarez, in a decisive interview with Box Azteca, cut through the rumors with a simple “No,” dismissing any gains from such a match. He pointed out the imbalance of risks, suggesting a victory over a smaller Crawford would bring him no glory, only criticism. Instead, Alvarez is setting his sights on a May 4 return in Las Vegas, against an opponent yet to be disclosed, steering clear of what many considered a dream match in the boxing world.
