Arizona Cardinals first-round defensive lineman Walter Nolen suffered a calf injury while training at the team facility and could miss most or all of training camp, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Wednesday.
Head coach Jonathan Gannon confirmed Nolen’s injury in a news conference but declined to specify how long Nolen would miss.
“He’s gonna miss some time,” Gannon said Wednesday.
Asked if Nolan’s absence could trickle into the regular season, Gannon said he didn’t know. The Cards have since placed Nolen on the active/physically unable to perform list.
This is a tough early blow to the Cardinals’ revamped defensive front. Nolen, the 16th overall pick in the 20205 NFL Draft, is a penetrating interior player who was expected to vie for playing time immediately.
