CeeDee Lamb injury update: Former NFL doctor gives prognosis, potential timeline for Cowboys WR

by: Chandler Vessels 6 minutes ago ChandlerVessels

Dallas Cowboys fans got some hopeful analysis on the injury to receiver CeeDee Lamb . Although Lamb was forced to leave Sunday after rolling his left ankle against the Chicago Bears, at least one medical expert doesn’t believe the injury to be long term.

David J. Chao , a former team doctor with the Chargers, broke down the type of injury Lamb suffered. He added that he considers it a “milder” ankle sprain and doesn’t anticipate the receiver being kept out long.

“It was an eversion type where the ankle’s turned out,” Chao said. “It’s a milder form of a high ankle sprain. We thought he would try and get taped and return. He did get taped and return, but his return was very, very short-lived and he is done for the day. The only good news out of this is this is not a long-term injury. Next week isn’t guaranteed, but not anticipating injured reserve for CeeDee Lamb.”

Bad news: CeeDee Lamb will not return today.

Good news: I do not anticipate an IR stint. Next week will be tough, but his ankle injury is not long-term. pic.twitter.com/qt1QmbgFxM

The injury occurred in the first quarter after Lamb rolled his ankle while being tackled by Bears linebacker  Noah Sewell . Lamb later returned to the game for one play but came off the field limping after running a route.

FOX sideline reporter Erin Andrews later revealed that Lamb was out for the rest of the game. However, the assessment from Chao is certainly a good sign while we await official word on the injury from the team.
