Chase Briscoe’s road to the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series championship just got a lot tougher. The yellow flag flew on Lap 106 of Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series season finale at Phoenix Raceway for a Shane van Gisbergen spin, but behind van Gisbergen, a Championship 4 driver in Briscoe was also in trouble. Briscoe blew a right rear tire just before the fortunately timed caution came out, which allowed Briscoe to take his No. 19 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota down pit road and let his crew inspect the damage. Briscoe’s car had some damage to the right rear following the flat tire. Briscoe reported on the radio that he had a vibration before the tire went down as well as in Stage 1. This is not the first time that Briscoe and the No. 19 team encountered a tire issue this weekend. In practice on Friday, Briscoe was one of four drivers — along with AJ Allmendinger, Daniel Suarez and Christopher Bell — who had flat tires within the first 15 minutes of practice.
