Chelsea Gray hits two 3-pointers in six seconds for Rose’s 69-67 win over Lunar Owls in Unrivaled

Story by

Chelsea Gray hit two 3-pointers in the final 19 seconds to lead Rose to a 69-67 win over Vinyl in a rematch of last season’s Unrivaled championship game.

The 11-year pro scored a game-high 23 points with 5 rebounds and 5 assists to lift the reigning champions to a 2-0 record in the first week of Unrivaled’s 2026 season. In both of Rose’s victories, Gray hit the game-winning 3-pointer. Each shot came under different circumstances, however.

In Monday’s 80-60 win over Lunar Owls, Gray hit a 3 to reach the target score after Rose had 69 points at the end of the third quarter. But the score was never closer than 13 points through the final frame.

On Friday, Gray’s deft long-range touch rallied Rose from a 61-54 deficit. Dearica Hamby banked in a 3 to give Vinyl that seven-point lead. They maintained that margin on a floater by Rhyne Howard. From there, Gray hit a free throw after being fouled on a 3-point attempt to cut the gap to four points.

Each team then scored two baskets (with Courtney Williams getting both for Lunar Owls) to keep it a four-point game. But with 67 points, the Owls were one score away from the win. That’s when Gray went into hero mode.

First, she grabbed a Williams pass attempt to Hamby on a pick-and-roll. Gray then took three dribbles up the court to pull up at the 3-point line and cut Vinyl’s lead to 67-66. Lunar Owls had another chance to win, but Williams’ shot from the top of the key clanked off the back rim.

Shakira Austin grabbed the rebound and quickly handed off to Gray, who darted up the court. Austin then set a screen for Gray to move Howard away from her, providing just enough space to fire up the game-winning 3.

In Rose’s first two games, Gray has scored a combined 58 points, hitting 9 of 17 3-point shots. She may be on her way to winning Unrivaled’s MVP award to go with the Finals MVP she earned last season.
