Copied!
Dallas Cowboys big-legged booter, Brandon Aubrey, banged home a 64-yard field goal to force overtime, then nailed the 46-yard game-winner in a 40-37 win over the New York Giants.
In the process, he became the first kicker to convert a game-tying field goal with no time remaining in the fourth quarter and a game-winning field goal with zeros on the clock in OT.
Coach Brian Schottenheimer said after his first win in the big chair that he’d have been comfortable sending Aubrey out for a 70-yarder.
“We would try it from 70-ish. We’ve seen him make those before,” the coach said, via the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “We always want to try to get as close as we can. But he’s always like, yeah, I’m good. And, yeah, that’s pretty cool. Dak’s always like, what’s the line to make, and I’m like, yeah, 50-ish. You know, 50-ish. He’s like, OK, that’s like, a 67- to 70-yard field goal. So there’s really not one, but the confidence that you see the guy kick with is just incredible.”

Aubrey’s machine-like ability to nail big kicks with ease is astonishing. The former soccer player is so efficient with his swing that it looks effortless to drive the ball 60-plus yards. His 64-yarder certainly felt like it’d have been good from 70.
The boot to force overtime was the second-longest of Aubrey’s career (65-yard made field goal in Week 3, 2024 vs. Baltimore). It marked the fifth made field goal of 60-plus yards in the final five seconds of a game since 2000, per NFL Research.
“We all have a job to do, and going into that last kick, there were like 30 seconds left, and they scored the touchdown, just praying for an opportunity,” Aubrey said. “Once we got in range, I was just walking through my normal process, which is just focusing on the details that it takes to kick a ball. I’m not really worried about what the situation is.
“You’ve got a job to put the ball through the upright, so I just tried to do that.”
Aubrey went 4 for 4 on field goals and made all four extra-point tries to help push the Cowboys to 1-1.
