Cowboys owner Jerry Jones won't appeal $250K fine for obscene gesture

Copied!

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones will not appeal the $250,000 fine imposed by the NFL this week, NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero reported on Friday.

Jones was fined after making an obscene gesture toward fans at MetLife Stadium during last Sunday’s win over the New York Jets.

The Cowboys owner said earlier this week the middle finger he displayed was “inadvertent” and was intended to be a thumbs up.

“That was unfortunate. That was kind of an exchange with our fans out in front of us,” Jones said Tuesday on 105.3 The Fan. “There was a swarm of Cowboys fans out in front — not Jets fans, Cowboys fans. The entire stadium was brimming with enthusiasm of Cowboys and certainly late in the game.”

Pelissero added that Jones is glad that his fine money will go to charitable causes, as does all fine money collected by the league.

“I understand the discipline of the league, for sure,” Jones told 105.3 The Fan on Friday.
