Copied!
The Dallas Cowboys didn’t wait until the offseason to part ways with Trevon Diggs.
The Cowboys waived the former Pro Bowl corner, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero and Jane Slater reported on Tuesday, per sources informed of the situation.
Trevon Diggs just called me to tell me the #Cowboys have released him.
While he says he will miss his time in Dallas, he assures me he is healthy and motivated as he looks to join another team looking for another piece to add this postseason.

It’d been a rocky season for Diggs, who missed eight games on injured reserve for a concussion. Diggs would later reveal the he sustained the injury in an at-home incident, when a TV-mount pole fell on his head. He also dealt with a knee injury this season.
Both before and after the injury, Diggs’ play was rocky, giving up catches and suffering miscommunication breakdowns.
Per Pelissero, Diggs’ release was not the result of a single incident but rather the culmination of multiple factors over time — both performance and other factors.
The Cowboys inked Diggs to a five-year, $97 million extension in July 2023, with the corner coming off back-to-back Pro Bowl nods and a 2021 first-team All-Pro selection. Since the payday, injuries have plagued Diggs. He’s played in just 21 games over the past three seasons, including just two in 2023 before suffering an ACL injury.
With a $14.5 million base salary in 2026 but zero guaranteed money on the deal, Diggs was likely to be cut in the offseason. Dallas decided not to wait that long to part ways with the 2020 second-round draft pick.
The 27-year-old heads to waivers. If he clears, Diggs would be eligible to sign with any club. His play has been rocky, but given the attrition at corner for playoff teams, he could find a landing spot with a club that will continue playing beyond Week 18.
