The New York Jets made the two biggest moves of the NFL trade deadline, moving on from two star defensive players. New Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle Quinnen Williams is one of them, getting some nice draft capital in return. It’s a blockbuster move for the Cowboys just hours after losing at home on Monday Night Football.
To say people inside the building are excited would be an understatement. Quarterback Dak Prescott was asked about Williams joining the Cowboys and he let his thoughts be known.
“I’m f***ing pumped,” Prescott said via Nick Harris of The Fort Worth Star-Telegram . “You can quote me on that.”
Prescott may not directly benefit from the Williams trade. He plays more into the hands of defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus, who desperately needed some talent upgrades. Williams provides that, hoping to be a big-time run stopper, while adding to an emerging pass rush.
But Prescott does find himself in the business of attempting to win a Super Bowl with Dallas. There are still flaws on the Cowboys’ roster, mainly in the defensive back-end. However, you cannot deny that the team got better due to the Williams addition.
