Dallas Cowboys dock $500,000 from Trevon Diggs' salary

According to Calvin Watkins of The Dallas Morning News , the Dallas Cowboys will “deduct” $500,000 from cornerback Trevon Diggs before training camp begins. This is due to Diggs not completing the required amount of offseason workouts with the team. Diggs is coming back from a long-term injury and decided to rehab on his own accord.

“Team officials will deduct $500,000 from Diggs’ $9 million base salary for his failure to complete at least 84% of his offseason workouts, a person with knowledge of Diggs’ contract told  The Dallas Morning News ,” Watkins said. “Diggs’ agent did not respond when asked for comment about the salary deduction.”

This is the second consecutive offseason Diggs dealt with a major health-related problem. Heading into 2024, he was coming back from a torn ACL. Issues with the knee continued to pop up this past year and eventually forced the Cowboys to shut their star cornerback down.

As for when Diggs is back, nobody truly knows. Previous reports indicate he will not be ready for the beginning of training camp via ESPN’s Todd Archer in late January. The Cowboys are just five days away from getting started in Oxnard. July 22 is the first practice before a month-long process through the final preseason game on Aug. 22.

Diggs has played in 58 games throughout his five-year career. Two Pro Bowl campaigns are on the resume, as is a first-team All-Pro for his 2021 performances. A league-leading 11 interceptions were recorded alongside two pick-sixes.
