Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones shared an update about cornerback DaRon Bland as the team gets ready for its Week 3 game against the Chicago Bears. While appearing on 105.3 The Fan, Jones said that Bland, who is dealing with a foot injury, is still a real long shot to play in the game on Sunday. Jerry Jones did mention that return specialist KaVonte Turpin , who suffered an injury in Sunday’s game against the New York Giants, has “a real chance” to play against the Bears.
DaRon Bland suffered a foot injury during practice last Monday, and it was reported that he could miss a couple of weeks. The injury wasn’t considered serious, but Cowboys defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus did not give a promising outlook for Bland.
“It’s obviously unfortunate for him,” Eberflus said, per Jon Machota of The Athletic. “He’ll be working with the medical staff. No timetable for his return.”
Bland was one of the five Cowboys defenders who played in all 63 snaps in the season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles earlier this month. The 26-year-old recorded three tackles in the Cowboys’ 24-20 loss.

In 2024, Bland played in seven games and recorded 41 tackles and five passes defended. He was coming off a 2023 season, where he tallied 69 tackles, 15 passes defended, nine interceptions, and an NFL record five picks returned for touchdowns.
At the end of August, Bland signed a four-year, $92 million contract extension with the Cowboys. It made him the highest-paid cornerback in the NFL.
