Shilo Sanders received some unfortunate news this week, as he was waived by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers . But his father, Colorado coach Deion Sanders , knows that this isn’t the end for him.
Deion addressed the news in a recent press conference, where he expressed his belief that Shilo would be ready to tackle his next opportunity. Although he is hopeful it will come with another NFL team, he also knows his son has the skills to thrive off the field too.
“Most definitely. He’s my son,” Deion Sanders responded when asked whether he had spoken with Shilo. “I’m proud of my kids – all of them. I prepared my kids for any and everything that could possibly happen in life and in sports. That’s part of fathering, that’s part of parenting, that’s part of having a relationship. He is, mentally, where he needs to be. Physically, where he needs to be.
“We’re praying that he gets another opportunity to go with a team. But if he doesn’t, the plans have already been put forth to what he’s going to do next. Shilo’s a man of many talents. … He’s going to be straight. All the Sanders’ are going to be straight, with our without football. You’d better believe that. You’d better believe that. I take care of mine. And I always have, and y’all know what I mean.”
