On a bizarre day at Dover Motor Speedway, Denny Hamlin emerged victorious. But Sunday’s Autotrader EchoPark Automotive 400 threw plenty of monkey wrenches at the NASCAR Cup Series field. After a fairly normal affair through the first 383 laps, a caution flew with 17 laps to go. Hamlin was leading Christopher Bell after an intense battle for the lead, but a strong, short rain shower blew through and forced the race to be red-flagged for just over 56 minutes. After NASCAR dried the track and the race went back green, Bell spun on Lap 393 while racing Hamlin for the lead. That led to another restart, where Chase Briscoe flew through the pack on new tires and got up to second before the caution came out again for a crash on the backstretch.
