Details Emerge on Former LSU WR Kyren Lacy’s Tragic Death
By Milton Manningham, LSU Football Contributor
The sports world mourns the tragic loss of former LSU wide receiver Kyren Lacy, who was found deceased late Saturday night in Houston following a vehicular pursuit with law enforcement. According to Houston police, the incident began when officers responded to a report of a weapons disturbance involving Lacy, who allegedly discharged a firearm during a domestic altercation before fleeing the scene.
The pursuit ended when Lacy’s car crashed, and officers discovered him with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. A handgun was recovered at the scene, though the medical examiner has not yet released the official cause of death. LSU issued a statement expressing deep sadness over the loss of Lacy, offering condolences to his family, teammates, and coaches.
Lacy’s passing comes amid ongoing legal troubles stemming from a fatal hit-and-run incident last December, in which a 78-year-old man lost his life. Despite the charges, Lacy had turned himself in earlier this year and was released on bail. The talented receiver declared for the NFL draft shortly after the crash but faced diminishing prospects in recent months.
A standout athlete during his time at LSU, Lacy recorded 58 receptions, 866 yards, and nine touchdowns in his final collegiate season, showcasing the potential that once had him ranked among the top NFL receiver prospects. His tragic end marks a somber close to a career filled with promise but overshadowed by personal challenges.
