Does Raiders WR Jakobi Meyers still want to be traded? 'Oh, for sure'

Seven weeks into the 2025 NFL season, Jakobi Meyers would still like the Las Vegas Raiders to oblige the trade request he made before the campaign began.

Meyers, whose trade request in August was rebuffed, reaffirmed on Tuesday that he’d still like to be moved, but likewise restated he has no plans to cause a stir if he stays put in Vegas.

“Oh for sure,” Meyers said, via ESPN’s Ryan McFadden, when asked if he still wanted to be traded. “But I’m a professional at the end of the day. I’m just trying to play good football.”

Just before the season kicked off, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Meyers saught a trade after he and the Raiders were unable to work out an extension. The 28-year-old is currently playing on the final deal of his contract, earning $10.5 million this season.

A seven-year pro, the former New England Patriot had his best career season in 2024 with the Raiders, hauling in career highs of 87 receptions and 1,027 yards.

Speaking to reporters on Sept. 3, Meyers confirmed his request and professed that he would simply take it all in stride and go about his job.

He did the same again on Tuesday.

“I got no control over that,” Meyers said about potentially being moved ahead of the Nov. 4 trade deadline. “If I’m here, I’m here.”

Meyers started the season in fine fashion with eight catches for 97 yards in the Raiders’ season-opening win over the Patriots. Since then, he hasn’t matched either of those tallies in a game and has 29 catches (tied for first on the team) for 329 yards (second) and no touchdowns. He missed the team’s Week 7 shutout loss to the Kansas City Chiefs with toe and knee injuries.

Coming off a dreadful loss to the Chiefs that saw them fall to 2-5 ahead of their bye week, the Raiders portend to be sellers at the deadline. Hence, it would make sense to deal Meyers considering his urge to move on and the parties’ inability to come to a long-term agreement.

Whether Raiders head coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Spytek are able to work out a deal — or want to — remains to be seen in the coming weeks.
