Golden State Warriors‘ Draymond Green, known for his candid and often contentious remarks, recently weighed in on the New Orleans Pelicans‘ potential threat in the league during the NBA All-Star break. In a spirited discussion with ESPN anchor Taylor Rooks and NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley, Green confidently dismissed concerns about the Pelicans as contenders. Barkley’s assertion that “nobody wants to play the Pelicans,” especially with Zion Williamson‘s rising prominence, was met with Green’s counter: “He’s definitely taking the next step, but I don’t think anybody’s worried about the New Orleans Pelicans.”
Chuck: "With Zion and those guys down in New Orleans… I don't think anybody wants to play the Pelicans."
Draymond: "He's definitely taking the next step but, I don't think anybody's worried about the New Orleans Pelicans." 😅

This isn’t the first instance of Green’s outspoken attitude towards the Pelicans; following a 120-109 victory last year where the Warriors overcame a significant deficit, Green remarked in a postgame interview that the Pelicans “aren’t cut like that,” casting doubt on their mettle against a seasoned, championship-caliber team like the Warriors. Green’s remarks encapsulate the competitive spirit of the Warriors. The Pelicans could and should use Green’s comments as inspiration to cement their place among the Western Conference elite.
