Lions CB Ennis Rakestraw Jr. was injured during Saturday’s practice during Detroit’s training camp, according to multiple reports. Rakestraw injured his shoulder, and head coach Dan Campbell said that “it’s going to be a while,” before he’s back on the field, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
“We’re getting it checked now and we’ll know more,” Campbell said. “In due time.”
Rakestraw was the Lions’ 2024 second-round draft pick from Missouri . During his rookie season in 2024, Rakestreaw appeared in eight games where he logged six tackles.
The Lions DB missed time last season while nursing a hamstring injury. He was eventually placed on the injured reserve list in November but appeared to be healthy heading into training camp.
Rakestraw was suited up against the Los Angeles Chargers last weekend during the Hall of Fame Game. He recorded one tackle during the 34-7 loss. Now, it appears he’ll be shut down for an extended period of time.
