In light of the Micah Parsons trade, Dallas fans are drawing comparisons to another recent blockbuster involving a fan favorite. There have been multiple callbacks to the Luka Doncic trade this past NBA season – and ESPN was the latest to bring it up.
As NFL Live came to an end Friday, the panel of Phil Murphy , Mina Kimes and Bill Barnwell poked fun at the amount of fan-favorites being traded from Dallas. Murphy also asked Kimes whether someone should warn Paige Bueckers , the No. 1 overall pick in this past year’s WNBA Draft who’s having a historic rookie year for the Wings.
“Mina, you worried about maybe Paige Bueckers in a blockbuster, maybe getting shipped away from the Wings?” Murphy asked Kimes toward the end of the show.
Kimes responded by pointing out one important difference between the Parsons and Doncic trades, though. After the Mavericks sent Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers, they wound up winning the NBA Draft lottery after winning a coin toss against the Chicago Bulls. That gave Dallas the No. 1 overall pick, paving the way to select Cooper Flagg .
The NFL, of course, doesn’t have a draft lottery. That’s why Kimes said it’s not a sure thing the Cowboys will have a No. 1 pick to look forward to after the trade.
