Former Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy has broken his silence on the team trading Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers. While appearing on The Pat McAfee Show on Thursday, McCarthy was asked about his reaction when he learned that Parsons is no longer with the Cowboys.
McCarthy said he met with Cowboys owner Jerry Jones in June and they talked about Parsons. โHe felt that him and Micah had a deal,โ McCarthy said. โHeโs earned that. โฆFrom a performance perspective, Micah Parsons earned his contract. Thereโs no question about that.โ
McCarthy added that he thought the Cowboys were going to get a deal done with Parsons since they did the same thing with Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb . โThe old saying in business is time kills deals,โ McCarthy stated. โโฆI always felt, โHey, no, theyโre going to get it done. Theyโre going to get it done. This is the businessman. Jerry keeping the Cowboys at the front of the news cycle.โ Just didnโt really pay much mind to it.
โAs this thing went on longer and longer, any time business transactions are held up, thereโs more emotions that come into play here, and this is what can happen. โฆI just felt this was a deal that took too long. Frankly, I think both sides will benefit.โ
