The New Orleans Saints have bolstered their defensive line by signing veteran free agent Kyle Phillips, according to a reliable source. Phillips, formerly with the New York Jets, brings valuable experience to the team after featuring in 29 games, including eight starts over a span of three seasons. During his tenure with the Jets from 2019 to 2021, Phillips showcased his defensive skills, amassing a 65 tackles and 2.5 sacks. The Saints’ decision to sign Phillips comes in the wake of Jabari Zuniga‘s unexpected retirement, providing a much-needed depth at the position.

Standing tall at 6-foot-4 and weighing 277 pounds, Phillips possesses the physical attributes to be a formidable force on the field. However, his path to securing a spot on the Saints’ roster won’t be an easy one. The team’s defensive line boasts exceptional talent with key players like Cameron Jordan, Carl Granderson, Payton Turner, and Isaiah Foskey, occupying top positions in the depth chart. In order to secure his place among the defensive ranks, Phillips must prove himself and outperform competitors such as Niko Lalos and Tanoh Kpassagnon, making the training camp a crucial opportunity for him to showcase his skills and determination to contribute to the Saints’ defensive success in the upcoming season.
