A pivotal moment came in the third round when an unintentional elbow from Fundora opened a severe cut on Tszyu’s scalp, severely impairing his vision and ability to fend off Fundora’s onslaught. Despite Tszyu’s valiant efforts, Fundora’s overwhelming work rate and barrage of punches proved too much, tilting the scales decidedly in his favor. The judges scored the bout 116-112 in favor of Fundora, twice, reflecting the decisive nature of his victory and heralding the arrival of a new force in the junior middleweight division.
