Shortly after reporters confirmed on Monday that the New York Giants had relieved head coach Brian Daboll of his duties, some wondered whether or not general manager Joe Schoen could also be dismissed either during or after the season. It sounds like Schoen may be safe through at least the start of the 2026 campaign. In the official team statement that announced the firing of Daboll, Giants co-owners John Mara and Steve Tisch revealed that Schoen “remains in his position as general manager and will lead the search for a new head coach.” For now, offensive coordinator/assistant head coach Mike Kafka will serve as the Giants’ interim head coach. “We feel like Joe has assembled a good young nucleus of talent, and we look forward to its development,” Mara said about holding onto Schoen. “Unfortunately, the results over the past three years have not been what any of us want.
