Green Bay Packers releasing rookie LB Jamon Dumas-Johnson

The Green Bay Packers are releasing rookie linebacker Jamon Dumas-Johnson , per Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports. Dumas-Johnson, signed as an undrafted free agent, will join the team’s practice squad if he clears waivers.

Dumas-Johnson, 23, made 11 tackles this preseason, but it wasn’t enough to secure him a 53-man roster spot. Again, the practice squad is an option for the former Kentucky standout.

Dumas-Johnson played one season with the Wildcats, compiling 67 tackles (39 solo), seven tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, one interception and one forced fumble. Before his time in Lexington, he spent three seasons at Georgia . He was a key piece of a Bulldogs team which won back-to-back national titles in 2021 and ’22.

Dumas-Johnson had his best season in 2022, 70 tackles (45 solo), nine tackles for loss, four sacks and one forced fumble. He earned First-Team All-American honors that season.
