Devin Haney and Regis Prograis are set to clash in a highly-anticipated battle for Prograis’ WBC junior welterweight title. The 140-pound matchup is scheduled for October 28 in Las Vegas, promising an electrifying showdown between two talented fighters.
Haney, aged 24, recently defended his undisputed lightweight championship by defeating Vasiliy Lomachenko in a unanimous decision back in May. This upcoming fight with Prograis marks the final bout of Haney’s three-fight deal with Top Rank.
Haney, with an impressive record of 30-0 and 15 knockouts, currently holds the WBA, WBC, WBO, and IBF titles at 135 pounds. Despite his success in the lightweight division, Haney aims to keep his lightweight belts intact and will decide on his future weight class after the Prograis fight. Prograis, a dangerous southpaw puncher from New Orleans, secured the WBA junior welterweight title with an impressive 11th-round knockout victory over Jose Zepeda in November.
With a record of 29-1 and 24 knockouts, Prograis will be stepping up for the most significant fight of his career, eager to showcase his skills and bounce back from his only professional loss against Josh Taylor in a title unification fight in London back in October 2019. Prograis has since rebounded with four consecutive TKO victories, setting the stage for an intense showdown against the undefeated Haney.
