Jaycee Horn injury update: Panthers cornerback required medical attention after car accident

Following the news that Carolina Panthers cornerback Jaycee Horn was involved in a car accident on Wednesday morning, more details have come to light. First, Horn is doing fine.

The veteran out of South Carolina tweeted an update following his crash, which occurred just outside Bank of America Stadium. It will help fans breathe a sigh of relief.

โ€œIโ€™m straight!โ€ Jaycee Horn tweeted. โ€œNun major thank god.โ€

Carolina Panthers head coach Dave Canales also provided an update. According to Kyle Bailey of WFNZ, Canales said that Horn needed eight stitches in his left thumb following the accident. Horn will not play in a preseason game against the Cleveland Browns on Friday as a result.

Jaycee Horn did not participate in Wednesdayโ€™s joint practice with the Browns, either. He watched from the sidelines, though he appeared to be no worse for the wear.

No one involved in the car accident was transported by emergency medical personnel, the team reported. So any lingering effects should be relatively minor.

Jaycee Horn gearing up for big year

Earlier this offseason, the franchise signed him to a historic, market-changing number.

The former South Carolina star inked a four-year deal worth a total of $100 million, with $70 million of that guaranteed. The contract has a maximum value of up to $108 million. With that, Horn became the highest-paid defensive back in NFL history.
