Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels (elbow) will make his return to the gridiron this Sunday afternoon against the Minnesota Vikings. Daniels has missed the past three games with an elbow injury he suffered in the fourth quarter of Washington’s 38-14 loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Nov. 2.
Veteran quarterback Marcus Mariota has started for the Commanders in Daniels’ absence. In that span, Washington is 0-3 and has dropped to 3-9 on the season. Although they are nowhere near playoff contention, Daniels wants to finish the final four games of the season strong.

Prior to Daniels’ injury, the reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year completed 62.5% of his passes for 1,184 yards and eight touchdowns. He’s also tossed two interceptions, while rushing for 262 yards and two more scores. Many fans and figureheads have pleaded for Daniels to sit out the remainder of the season due to his team being well out of playoff contention, but that doesn’t appear to be happening.
Robert Griffin III pleaded with Daniels to sit out remainder of season
“I haven’t spoken too much on my time in depth in DC,” former Washington quarterback Robert Griffin III said on the Nov. 10 edition of the ‘ Outta Pocket with RGIII ‘ podcast. “I even scrapped a book, because I didn’t feel like it was the right time to have that conversation. Eventually, there will be a time to have that convo.”
“But just know, my situation in DC and Jayden’s, outside of the surface level black quarterback, second pick, Heisman Trophy winner, hurt on the same yard-line on the same field against the same team, it’s not the same. Trust me, it’s wild. It’s like the twilight zone. Some voodoo stuff.”
