Jeff Passan: ‘Blue Jays very much in the mix for Alex Bregman’

This off-season has moved at a snail’s pace, at least on the position player side of things. Early in the off-season, the Toronto Blue Jays jumped the market by signing Dylan Cease to a seven-year deal. Cease was seen as one of the best starters available, so getting that out of the way was good for the Blue Jays. They then signed Cody Ponce to a three-year deal, before making some bullpen additions, capped off by signing Tyler Rogers, one of the best relievers on the market. There’s still one glaring issue with their roster construction – the lack of a bat. As you likely know, Bo Bichette’s contract came to an end after the season and he remains a free agent. The Blue Jays are reportedly still interested in Bichette, who is open to moving to second base. Moreover, the Jays are considered the favourites by some to sign Kyle Tucker.
