Jerry Jones fires back at NFL after fine for flipping middle finger at Jets fans

After receiving a fine from the NFL, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is planning to appeal, DLLS Sports’ Clarence Hill Jr. reported. The NFL fined Jones $250,000 for the flipping a middle finger at New York Jets fans, which was caught on camera.

Jones made the gesture during Sunday’s game, which saw the Cowboys come away with a victory over the Jets. It occurred following a touchdown, he told 105.3 The Fan Tuesday during his regular appearance.

However, Jones said he intended to give a thumbs up considering it was just after a Dallas touchdown. Instead, he made the “wrong show of hand.”

“That was unfortunate,” Jones said, via the AP. “There was a swarm of Cowboys fans out front. It was right after we made our last touchdown. I put up the wrong show of hand. The intention was thumbs up.”

Jones made it clear it was “accidental” and he did not intend to show a middle finger gesture toward the fans. He reiterated he was trying to show excitement after a touchdown.
