Jerry Jones reveals final decision on tribute to Micah Parsons ahead of Packers game

This Sunday night, Green Bay Packers (2-1) linebacker Micah Parsons will make his return to AT&T Stadium in a primetime matchup against the Dallas Cowboys (1-2). Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones said Monday that the organization isn’t planning on recognizing Parsons before the game.

“I don’t think that’s appropriate this way, Emmitt [Smith coming back] was a different story. But that’s not to diminish Micah,” Jones said, via Jon Machota of The Athletic. “I think Micah’s got enough welcome out there. We just need to show we’ve got antidotes for that.”

The Week 4 meeting between the Cowboys and Packers will be exactly one month removed from Jones trading Parsons in a blockbuster deal. Parsons, 26, requested out of Dallas after making zero progress on a new deal as he entered the 2025 season set to play on his fifth-year option. The Packers believed Parsons could transform their defense, rewarding him with a four-year, $188 million deal with $136 million guaranteed, making him the highest-paid non-quarterback in  NFL  history.

The Cowboys defense without Micah Parsons…

Three weeks into the season, and the Packers own the league’s No. 3 ranked defense, allowing an NFL low 14.7 points per game. Parsons has five tackles and 1.5 sacks. The Cowboys, meanwhile, are 30th in total defense. They have just three sacks as a team.

Stopping Parsons and the Packers is no easy task. Jones is well aware of the threat that Parsons presents to opposing offenses.
