Jerry Jones snaps at Cowboys fans over 'Pay Micah' chants

Cowboys fans serenaded Jerry Jones with chants of “Pay Micah!” over the weekend at training camp. While the team owner acknowledged them, he took a bit of a dig at Dallas’ supporters while addressing the media afterwards.

“I heard it light, but not compared to how I heard them say, ‘Pay Lamb [last year],’” Jones said, comparing the negotiations with CeeDee Lamb from last year to Micah Parson’s in 2025 via ESPN. “That was a faint little sound compared to the way they were hollering last year, ‘Pay Lamb.’

“… Whoever’s not in, you can count on a few hollering that. But it was a big loud chant last year on Lamb.”

Of course, Jones eventually signed Lamb to a $136 million contract in late August in 2024. It’s an interesting move, comparing the loudness of the two chants, but the team owner hasn’t been shy about making some odd comments regarding the negotiations with Parsons this summer.

Just last week Jones compared the negotiations to the season-ending injury Dak Prescott suffered in 2024. The 82-year-old recognizes that just because you sign a player for an inordinate amount of money, there’s no guarantee they’ll stay healthy. That’s something he learned with his quarterback.

“Just because we sign him doesn’t mean we’re going to have him. (Parsons) was hurt six games last year. Seriously. We’ve signed — I remember signing a player for the highest-paid at their position in the league. He got knocked out for two-thirds of the year, Dak Prescott,” Jones told the media, per Ari Meirov of  The 33rd Team.

“So, there’s a lot of things you can think about. Just as the player does, when you’re thinking about committing and guaranteeing money.”
