The New York Jets and cornerback Sauce Gardner have agreed to terms on a four-year, $120.4 million contract extension that includes $60 million in new money guarantees, NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport, Tom Pelissero and Mike Garafolo reported Tuesday.
Gardner’s deal puts him under contract through 2030 and makes him the NFL’s new highest-paid CB just barely over the Houston Texans’ Derek Stingley Jr., as the Jets corner will be paid $30.1 million per year compared to Stingley’s $30 million average.
The No. 4 overall pick in the 2022 draft has shined since Day 1 for Gang Green, winning AP Defensive Rookie of the Year, making two Pro Bowls and twice being named a first-team All-Pro over his first three seasons. He has 181 tackles, 40 passes defensed and three interceptions to this point in his career.
Gardner’s deal comes one day after New York locked up fellow ’22 draft class member, wide receiver Garrett Wilson, to a four-year deal, as well.
