Jon Gruden Seen Observing Saints Practice Once Again

Former NFL head coach Jon Gruden, known for his stints with the Buccaneers and Raiders, is set to visit the New Orleans Saints training camp on Friday.

Gruden had already consulted with the Saints during their offseason program and will now continue his role as an advisor to the team, particularly focusing on his experience with newly signed quarterback Derek Carr, whom he previously coached during his time with the Raiders.

Saints head coach Dennis Allen downplayed any rumors of a more significant role for Gruden, stating that the 59-year-old Super Bowl-winning coach is simply there to offer his expertise and observations.

Gruden’s extensive knowledge of the West Coast offense, similar to the one he ran with the Raiders when Carr was his quarterback, makes him a valuable resource in helping Carr transition smoothly into the Saints’ offensive system.

While Gruden’s presence at the camp has generated some speculation, Coach Allen clarified that there is no current plan to hire him on a full-time basis. Instead, the Saints view him as a temporary resource to provide insights and advice to both Carr and the offensive coaching staff.

Gruden’s track record of coaching Carr to his most successful seasons has undoubtedly piqued the Saints’ interest in utilizing his expertise during their training camp.
