Josh Jacobs injury update: Latest emerges on knee issue for Packers' RB

by: Sam Gillenwater 7 hours ago samdg_33

Josh Jacobs exited more than once in the win on Sunday for Green Bay with a knee injury. Now, after further testing to start this week, more is known on his status moving forward for the Packers.

Per Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, Jacobs will not need surgery on that left knee, with him now being day-to-day for Green Bay. Thatโ€™s great news in the long term for the Packers, but he is at least uncertain to play this upcoming weekend in a key divisional matchup this upcoming weekend against the Minnesota Vikings.

โ€œ#Packers standout RB Josh Jacobsโ€™ knee is structurally sound and no surgery is needed, per me and @TomPelissero,โ€ Rapoport tweeted out this morning. โ€œHeโ€™s considered day-to-day, but could miss the game against the #Vikings.โ€

ESPNโ€™s Adam Schefter has also since reported much of the same. He posted similar reporting himself, and has since spoken further on that news during an appearance this afternoon on โ€˜The Pat McAfee Showโ€™.

โ€œThey did tests today. It was structurally sound, so thatโ€™s encouraging. Theyโ€™re going to consider him week-to-week. Itโ€™ll be challenging to have him play this week against the Vikings. But, again, theyโ€™re not ready to rule him out just yet. But, look, this is a tough guy, and heโ€™s usually out there. Weโ€™ll see if heโ€™s going to be able to make it out there this week. I think Iโ€™d be a little bit surprised โ€“ Emanuel Wilson has played well, long season ahead. But, heโ€™ll have a chance. Theyโ€™re not ready to rule him out just yet,โ€ said Schefter. โ€œWeโ€™ll see how the week evolves. The good news for the Packers is not long-term, no surgery needed and weโ€™ll see how soon he can make it back.
