Police on Monday arrested a 20-year-old Bronx man in connection to the shooting of New York Jets cornerback  Kris Boyd . The man was charged Tuesday with attempted murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon, according to Rich Cimini of ESPN.

The man, identified as Frederick Green , was taken into custody near the University of Buffalo North Campus in Amherst, N.Y. He was then transported to a Midtown Manhattan police precinct, where he was formally charged Tuesday.

The arrest comes after Boyd, 29, was shot in the abdomen during an early-morning incident in Midtown Manhattan Nov. 16. According to ABC News , Boyd told detectives he and several friends were involved in a confrontation outside a restaurant. It escalated into gunfire. Responding officers found Boyd seriously wounded, and he was rushed to Bellevue Hospital. That’s where he remained hospitalized in critical but stable condition.

Investigators reportedly believe that Green fled the New York City area to avoid capture. Green was arrested at an apartment complex near the Buffalo area. The U.S. Marshals office said that Green had “significantly changed his physical appearance, presumably to avoid detection.”
