Kurt Warner calls out Jets from broadcast booth after puzzling end to first half vs. Broncos

The New York Jets were criticized for their clock management at the end of the first half against the Denver Broncos in London Sunday morning. Instead of being aggressive, head coach Aaron Glenn and staff opted to hit the locker room.

The Jets were almost in position to score trailing 10-6 during a two-minute drill at the end of the half. Despite it being fourth down near midfield, New York opted to run the last 30 seconds off the clock instead of trying to get the first down and potentially cut into or take the lead at halftime.

“The Brits are wondering what is happening in London and so are the American announcers,” Rich Eisen said as the clock hit zero. Eisen is calling the game alongside Hall of Famer Kurt Warner, who called out the Jets for the bizarre end of the first half on social media: “Somebody please explain that last Jets drive??? Not really sure what I just watched!”

Before that, both Eisen and Warner were puzzled when the Jets decided to run the football with one minute left in regulation. It was an eyebrow-raising turn of events during a pivotal time in the game. New York not only had the opportunity to put points on the board, but were also set to receive the second-half kickoff.

In total, the Jets finished the first half with 32 net yards, six points on two field goals, gained two first downs and gave up four sacks. Still, they only trailed the Broncos 10-6 at the break.
