Lions RB Jahmyr Gibbs, Browns DE Myles Garrett highlight Players of the Week

Copied!

Who were the NFL’s top stars in Week 12? Each Wednesday, the league unveils its weekly honor roll. See who the Players of the Week are below.

AFC Offensive Player of the Week

Kansas City potentially saved its season in Sunday’s comeback win against the Indianapolis Colts, and Hunt was a major reason why. The Chiefs put almost their entire running game on the veteran back’s shoulders, supplying him with a career-high 30 carries. He responded with 104 yards on the ground, plus another 26 yards on three catches. Though he did lose a fourth-quarter fumble, he crucially rebounded with a touchdown run on the next possession, making it four straight contests with a TD for Hunt.

NFC Offensive Player of the Week

Superlatives fail to fully describe the might with which Gibbs played in Week 12. With Detroit trailing throughout a surprisingly tough game against the New York Giants, the third-year running back kicked it into hyperdrive. He broke off multiple massive runs — none larger than the 69-yard overtime score on the very first play of overtime — and finished with 219 rushing yards (on 14.6 yards per carry!), the most by a Lions player since Barry Sanders in 1994. Most importantly, he put Detroit on his back to ensure the club kept pace with the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers in the NFC North.
